Visionary Youth

Visionary Youth

Sower Church, along with University Church and Restoration City Church, has partnered with Visionary Youth, a Lincoln-based organization that provides free haircuts along with access to basic grooming and hygiene products, clothes, coats, and personal care items for low-income youth.

Formed in 2010, and officially becoming a non-profit organization in 2019 by Kwabena (KB) Mensah, owner of Oasis Barbershops in Lincoln, Visionary Youth has served over 3,000 young people and their families with free haircuts, school supplies, personal hygiene needs items, family events, gifts at Christmas, and mentorships.

Mr. Mensah, having experienced poverty and the traumatic effect of poverty throughout his childhood, is passionate about giving back to youth who are facing the same circumstances.

We, at Sower Church, continuing our tradition of Generosity Culture and to be a Gospel-centered church that produces Gospel fruit, are excited to join Visionary Youth in their vision to serve our community.

How Sower Church can help?

Donate. Our Community Groups will be donating essential needs (socks, underwear, and deodorant). Contact your Community Group leaders for more info.

Volunteer. Visionary Youth has various opportunities to serve at events like the Back to School and Free Haircuts and Backpacks Event on Sunday, August 9. To volunteer, sign up on their website @ https://visionaryouth.org/take-action/volunteer.html.

Become a mentor. Visionary Youth is always looking for positive adult role models to add to their mentorship program. A background check and training are required to become a mentor with Visionary Youth. To become a mentor, visit https://visionaryouth.org/take-action/barber-stylist-mentoring.html.

We are excited to partner with this local organization to make a difference in our community through donations, volunteering, and mentorships!
